Art class was always my favorite class. I remember being so excited when it was time to create with clay. Making something from nothing, or in this case, a lump of clay, has always been exciting to me.
It came as no surprise that these Bible verses became some of my favorites.

"What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker?
Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, 'Stop, you're doing it wrong!' Does the pot exclaim, 'How clumsy you can be?'" - Isaiah 45:9
"And yet, O Lord, you are our Father.
We are the clay, and you are the potter.
We all are formed by your hand." - Isaiah 64:8
Admittedly, I have gone through a season when I argued with God. I did not like who I was or what he was asking me to do. I have a stubborn streak a mile long which only increased the sorrow that I went through. Thankfully, through prayer, self reflection and affirming friends I have turned the argument into a praise.
The first step was learning that God is for me. My creator has the desire to mold me into a masterpiece (Ephesians 2:8-10) and not just that, he knit me together in all my complexity (Psalm 139:13-14). If you are struggling like I did I encourage you to read and reflect on these verses. Making them a prayer you can recite when the urge to argue with God boils up.

The second step was learning whose voice I was listening to. What triggers my thoughts to think "God has made me all wrong?" -- It's usually when I listen to the voice of the enemy. All he wants is to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10) my joy and purpose. What we listen to matters. The external noise from social media, news channels, or other people can already bring us down if our internal voice is also negative it becomes difficult to hear the loving voice of God our Father.
